Orthopedic Testing, Diagnostic Imaging & Bloodwork

At Revive Health & Wellness, understanding your injury starts with a thorough evaluation. Your assessment may include orthopedic testing to evaluate muscle, joint and movement concerns.

When clinically indicated, our chiropractic physician can order X-rays, MRIs, other diagnostic imaging and bloodwork to help evaluate your symptoms and guide your care. Testing recommendations depend on your health history, symptoms and examination findings.

Exercise Therapy

Start with the activity that has become difficult

Sometimes there’s an obvious moment: a twist during practice or an awkward landing. Other times, discomfort builds gradually, and your child starts avoiding a movement they used to do without thinking.

Parents may contact us about soreness that keeps returning, discomfort during a particular activity, or a change in how their child runs, reaches or moves. Your child may describe the problem differently from how you notice it. Both perspectives are useful.

You don’t need to know the name of the injury before contacting the office. Tell us your child’s age, the activity involved and what you have observed. We can discuss whether an appointment with our team is appropriate.

A serious injury, suspected head injury or severe symptoms need appropriate medical assessment. Do not wait for a routine appointment when urgent or emergency care is needed.

What a youth injury evaluation can include

An evaluation begins with the history of the concern. Important details include when it started, whether there was a specific injury, previous treatment and any medical advice your child has already received.

Depending on the concern, an examination may include movement assessment and orthopedic testing. The findings help the clinician consider which structures may be involved and whether further evaluation is needed.

Bring available imaging reports, injury notes and instructions from your child’s pediatrician or another treating provider. Tell us about current restrictions, too. You should receive an explanation of the proposed next step, its purpose and any reasons to involve another provider.

A care plan with practical goals

The plan depends on the evaluation and the care appropriate for your child. Recommendations may include chiropractic care, soft tissue work or guided exercise when clinically suitable. Ask which provider would deliver each part of care.

Keep the goals practical. Perhaps your child wants to move through the school day more comfortably or understand how to approach recovery. Those goals give you and the clinician something specific to discuss and reassess.

If symptoms change, improvement is limited or another type of assessment is needed, the plan should be reviewed. Participation in treatment does not automatically mean a child is ready to return to unrestricted sport.

Questions about X rays and MRI

Parents often ask whether their child needs a scan. Imaging is a clinical decision based on the history, examination and suspected concern. It is not an automatic part of every appointment.

When appropriate, the clinician can discuss further imaging and the process for arranging it. Ask where imaging would take place, what records are needed and whether insurance authorization may apply.

Appointment availability and imaging availability are separate questions. Contact the office to discuss your child’s circumstances and the next step recommended after assessment.

Support for local teams

Coaches and organizers can also ask about Revive’s team recovery sessions. Contact us to discuss the available program, participation requirements and scheduling.

If a player is hurt, contact the office before arranging participation. A team session does not replace an individual injury evaluation.

Frequently asked questions

Contact the office with your child’s age and reason for the visit. The team will confirm whether the available providers and services are appropriate before scheduling. Age eligibility can differ between services.

Same-day requests depend on availability and the nature of the concern. Call to ask about openings and wait for confirmation. An online request does not reserve an appointment automatically.

Revive’s youth injury care is chiropractic-led. We can explain which clinician your child would see and what that clinician provides. A pediatric sports medicine physician or orthopedic specialist provides a separate medical service that may be appropriate for some concerns.

That depends on the assessment and the options discussed with you. Ask why any proposed technique is recommended, its potential benefits and risks, and what alternatives are available. You can ask questions before deciding whether to proceed.

Return decisions depend on the injury and the requirements of the treating provider, school or league. Ask what documentation is needed. An appointment or recovery session is not automatic clearance to play.

Bring relevant medical records, imaging reports, current restrictions and insurance information. Have a parent or guardian contact the office to confirm attendance and consent requirements before the visit.
